Thursday, October 23, 3:30-4:30pm (Main Lib #106)

Roughly three out of every four people face some degree of anxiety when speaking in front of others. Tremors, butterflies in the stomach, and “blacking out” are common, but that does not make them any less uncomfortable. In this workshop, learn strategies and mindsets to help cope with these experiences and more related to speech and presentation apprehension. Pre-registration required using the link above.

Presenting with Visual Aids
Registration Form: https://forms.illinois.edu/sec/316456564
Thursday, November 6, 3:30-4:30pm (Zoom)

Learn about basic design principles, effective visual aids, and data visualization. We will also offer practical tips for designing and presenting with research posters. Pre-registration required using the link above.

Workplace Communication
Registration Form:
https://forms.illinois.edu/sec/1525689770
Thursday, December 18, 3:30-4:30pm (Main Lib #106)

This session will explore both overt and subtle forms of microaggressions in workplace communication, including those that happen consciously as well as those that occur unconsciously. Together, we will reflect on the ways individuals may intentionally or unintentionally contribute to these dynamics, learn to recognize when we ourselves might be experiencing them, and discuss strategies for responding and coping. The workshop will provide space for all participants, whether they are bystanders, those who may engage in these behaviors, or those who experience them, to gain insight and develop strategies for fostering more respectful and inclusive workplace environments. Pre-registration required using the link above.
