Resources

Share our resources with your class or campus group, or learn more about other campus resources! We happily provide syllabus language, class visits, and more to help more easily share the Speakers Workshop with others. Faculty can include our statement below in their syllabus or schedule a class visit. Students and staff can connect with other campus resources.

The University of Illinois offers individualized support for undergraduate and graduate students who are preparing speeches and presentations for any class or professional event. Visit speakersworkshop.illinois.edu to schedule a meeting with one of our friendly peer-consultants. The Speakers Workshop is a welcoming, low-stakes, peer-to-peer environment staffed by graduate and undergraduate students. We can assist at any stage of the process, from brainstorming and outlining to delivery practice and visual aids. We offer in-person consultations located in a variety of places on campus, as well as synchronous virtual consultations.

Class Visits and Group Workshops

The Speakers Workshop is happy to visit classes to introduce our resources to students. Our “Introduction to the Speaking Center” presentation lasts approximately ten minutes and provides an overview of services we provide. We are also happy to work with campus organizations and groups to provide workshops tailored to their needs. These are organized on a first come, first served basis and are subject to the Workshop’s availability. To request a class visit or group workshop, please contact us at speakersworkshop@illinois.edu(Please note that we require one month’s advance notice for tailored group workshops and two week’s advance notice for class visits.)
